Any time we have a chance to partner with On the Road Lending to help provide cars for deserving recipients, we jump at the opportunity to get involved. Recently, we did just that when we presented Pamala Burch with a gently used 2013 Toyota Corolla.
Pamala recently spoke out about the need for public transportation improvements at a meeting in southern Dallas, where quality of life issues were addressed among a crowd. Pamala stated that she had to wake up at 3 a.m. and take a three-vehicle DART commute to get to her job at Neiman Marcus. Round trip the commute would take her approximately 4 hours. As you can imagine, on rainy, freezing or burning hot days, this would be difficult, but Burch did it without hesitation.
When she spoke up at the meeting, On the Road Lending’s Managing Partner, Michelle Corson, immediately held up her hand and said, “We are going to get you a car.”
On the Road Lending is a nonprofit that helps low- and moderate-income individuals buy cars, many of which have been provided by Toyota of Richardson. We were elated to assist the nonprofit in presenting Pamala with a reliable vehicle that will help make her commutes a lot easier.
Pamala has had the means to make monthly payments on a car, but the down payment made purchasing a vehicle difficult in previous years. With the help of On the Road Lending, donations were collected, including $1,500 from the Oak Cliff Chamber of Commerce, to cover the down payment on the Toyota Corolla.
“We delivered a car to a wonderful woman in South Dallas who personifies what we are trying to achieve with On the Road Lending – improving people's quality of life by giving them the gift of time,” said Corson.

Randy Boston, a Toyota of Richardson sales associate, shows Pamala Burch all of the new features in her used Toyota Corolla.
