Toyota recently unveiled the Toyota Battery Center of North America, located directly on its Saline, MI, research campus. This 30,000-square-foot dedicated testing and development hub is equipped to test battery cells produced at Toyota's North Carolina facility and other regional suppliers.

On-site engineers will focus on testing cell output and inventing fresh battery solutions for Toyota's hybrid, hydrogen, and all-electric vehicles, keeping in step with its multi-pathway propulsion initiative. Capabilities will cover the spectrum from raw material validation to vehicle battery recycling, providing the company with vital localized testing power.

In partnership with the University of Michigan Electric Vehicle Center, Toyota will open the facility to academic researchers, offering access to advanced test benches. This initiative aims to help train future generations of automotive battery technicians and engineers.

A primary goal for Toyota is putting dedicated focus into engineering original battery architectures alongside factory manufacturing. Emphasizing hybrid and plug-in hybrid technology highlights ongoing consumer interest in practical hybrid powertrains.

Without question, the launch of the Toyota Battery Center of North America marks the start of a promising chapter for the brand. Although vehicles equipped with technology engineered at the new center are still several years off, our dealership currently provides a top-tier inventory of dependable Toyota vehicles.
