What's New for the 2022 Toyota Highlander?

The 2022 model year continues the Highlander's tradition of popular features packed into a three-row SUV. The renowned automaker released a special trim for 2022 called the Bronze Edition.

2022 Highlander Trims & Features

You can choose from seven 2022 Toyota Highlander trims. Those begin with the L, which delivers three-zone climate control, an eight-inch touchscreen, push-button start, and five USB ports. You'll use the touchscreen to interface with Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, and Amazon Alexa.

The LE provides a power liftgate that's height-adjustable. This trim also features LED fog lamps. Meanwhile, heated front seats come in the XLE, which also includes wireless charging and a power moonroof.

Sporty styling and responsiveness feature in the XSE trim. Its highlights include twin exhaust tips, 20-inch, alloy wheels, and a sport-tuned, MacPherson strut suspension.

Highlander's Limited trim augments the vehicle's seats with leather, and it includes ventilated front seats. Next, in the Platinum trim, you'll find the automaker's Bird's Eye View camera with dynamic gridlines and a 12.3-inch touchscreen.

If you choose a Highlander Bronze Edition, you'll enjoy bronze-themed style touches based on the XLE trim. Bronze tones will accent your Highlander's cabin, and you'll travel on bronze-colored, alloy wheels.

2022 Toyota Highlander Horsepower

Toyota equips the Highlander with its 3.5L V6, which delivers up to 295 horsepower. You will engage with that engine through an eight-speed, electronic, automatic transmission.

Every hybrid Highlander from this model year features Toyota's 2.5L L4HV. Rated at 186 horsepower, this engine supplies the gas-powered portion of the hybrid drivetrain. Synchronous motors on each drive wheel supply the electric portion. You'll engage with this drivetrain via a continuously variable transmission. Also called a CVT, this feature constantly optimizes gear ratios for performance and convenience.

Toyota Highlander Safety

Each Highlander includes Safety Sense, Toyota's suite of driver-assistance systems. These can keep you in your lane, brake the vehicle for you under certain conditions, and alert you upon sensing your potential fatigue. The system will also raise and lower your high beams, so you can keep your attention on the road.
