Toyota has just broken ground on its new headquarters in Plano. Just a short 14-mile jaunt from Toyota of Richardson, the new headquarters will be the epicenter for all Toyota life.

A 2015 Tundra TRD Pro Series had the honor of bulldozing the first bit of earth on the new campus, as onlookers cheered. Afterwards, a brand-new installation was unveiled: the word “TOYOTA” standing nearly 10 feet tall with Texas Yaupon Holly trees standing inside each transparent letter. The trees, which in Japan represent hopes and wishes, will be planted on the headquarters grounds during the coming months.

"The support and encouragement we've received from the community, civic leaders, business partners and nearby corporations has been nothing short of tremendous," said Jim Lentz, Toyota Motor North America chief executive officer. "Our goal is to build an environmentally-sustainable campus that our new neighbors will welcome and our team members and associates will be proud to call home."

Since the move was first announced, we have all been very excited about having Toyota's corporate headquarters so close to our home in Richardson. The new facility is scheduled to open sometime in late 2016 or early 2017. Stay tuned to our blog as more details about the move become available.
