The annual BrandZ Top 100 Most Valuable Global Brands 2015 study just named Toyota the most valuable automotive brand in the world. The Japanese automaker ranked above brands such as BMW and Mercedes-Benz, showcasing the power of affordable luxury that lasts.

Toyota's high rank on the BrandZ study was based on several factors, including their business performance, the quality of their leadership and customer interviews. According to Millward Brown, the company organizing the study, these customer interviews were one of the biggest areas that BrandZ looked at, as customer perception of any brand is one of the largest determining factors in a brand’s overall value.

“[Toyota] is a definitively defined brand that is quality and value,” Peter Walshe, global BrandZ director at Millward Brown, told Automotive News. “In the U.S.A., it is seen very much as a local brand because of the support and importance of its manufacturing in the U.S.A.”

Toyota’s brand perception ranks among the highest in the automotive industry, thanks to the automaker’s infamously fantastic customer service and reliable product. The BrandZ study only backs up what we’ve known all along about the Toyota brand: once a person becomes a Toyota owner, they stay a Toyota owner for life.
