Efficiency, style and technology are encompassed by the all-new 2017 Prius Prime – Toyota’s replacement for the Prius Plug-in Hybrid.

How is the Prime distinguished from its predecessor and other members of the Prius family?

For starters, it has a new look that separates it from all other Prius models. Its front and rear fascia designs are fully revised, and with an aerodynamic “wind-cheating” form and features such as automatic grille shutters, drag is reduced and efficiency is enhanced. The Prime is also slightly wider and lower to the ground than its predecessor.

Prime uses Toyota’s first-ever dual-motor drive system, two electric motors and a one-way clutch, which helps drive more kilowatts to the wheels. The EV experience is enhanced, so drivers can expect the car to use electric power much more often. Estimates from Toyota project the new model to have more than 600 miles in total range and an EV range of up to 22 miles when the car is fully charged. Toyota also estimates that the Prime will achieve 120 MPGe.

In the cabin, available features include an 11.6-inch tablet display, a suite of exclusive Prius Prime Apps, the Entune App Suite and the Toyota Safety Sense package, which includes technologies like Pre-Collision with Pedestrian Detection, Lane Departure Alert and other innovative driver-assist features.

The 2017 Toyota Prius Prime is coming to the Dallas area in late 2016. Keep an eye on Toyota of Richardson’s blog if you don’t want to miss any updates regarding Toyota’s new Prius model!
