Specs at a Glance
The 2020 Toyota Highlander is fully redesigned from the ground up this model year. It comes with a number of amenities across the board. This year, the Highlander gets more cargo space behind the third row than before. For the first time, the Highlander's infotainment system gets Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Upscale materials give the Highlander a sophisticated interior, while its engines offer plenty of power. There are five trim levels in the 2020 Toyota Highlander family, and each one offers something unique. If you're eyeing the 2020 Highlander, two trims worth considering are the L and the XLE. The L is the entry-level trim, while the XLE is a mid-level option.
Performance
Regardless of whether you get the L or the XLE, the 2020 Toyota Highlander has the same engine. All trims of the Highlander are powered by the same engine, which is a 3.5L with six cylinders. This engine gives the Toyota Highlander a power output of 295. The engine's torque capacity is 263 LB-FT. An eight-speed automatic transmission is standard. The standard drivetrain is a front-wheel drive, while an all-wheel drive is available on either trim level. The Toyota Highlander also comes in a hybrid edition.
Appearance
The L and XLE have some aesthetic features in common, but they have some differences as well. The L is equipped with LED headlights, a bold front grille, and a roof spoiler. Dramatic curves and angles give it a sophisticated appearance. Both the L and the XLE get heated side mirrors, while the XLE's mirrors also have blind-spot monitoring. Along with LED lights in the front, the L gets LED lighting in the back and LED stoplights. Variable-intermittent windshield wipers are a standard feature. The XLE adds roof rails and a sunroof to its exterior. Inside, its interior gets an upgrade with heated front seats that are multi-way adjustable, simulated leather seats, and a larger information display screen. Both trims get 18-inch alloy wheels, but they have a slightly different finish.
Features
The L and XLE are equipped with many features. The base model is outfitted with a three-zone climate control and an eight-inch infotainment display screen with Android Auto, Amazon Alexa, and Apple CarPlay. A USB charging port is a standard convenience on the L. It also has hands-free calling capabilities. A WiFi hotspot is included for convenience, and you get a three-month subscription to satellite radio. This trim also gets a Safety Sense 2.0 package of driver-assist amenities. The XLE offers more features, including a larger information display screen. The XLE upgrades to an enhanced audio and infotainment system with standard satellite radio and HD radio. It also gets advanced voice recognition and hands-free calling capabilities. You also have the option of getting a premium infotainment system with navigation, more speakers, and an even larger and more visible infotainment display screen. Both trims get electronic stability control and electronically-controlled braking. A Toyota Safety Sense 2.0 package with pre-collision avoidance, pedestrian detection, lane-departure warning, and lane-trace assist is standard.
Both the L and the XLE are exceptional choices for the 2020 Toyota Highlander. Contact our dealership to learn more and arrange a test drive for one or both today.
