What's New for the 2018 Toyota Corolla?

Known for being a solid, reliable, and safe car, the Corolla is back in 2018 with even more to offer. The Corolla has been one of the best-selling cars worldwide for the past half century, and now it sets itself further apart from the pack with more intriguing exterior styling, more safety features, larger and more comfortable seats, and a roomier cabin with extra legroom for front and back passengers. There are six trim levels to choose from in the newest Corolla, including an eco-friendly trim that has a larger engine and gets better gas mileage.

Commendable Corolla Features

The Corolla line starts with the L, which is the base trim. The L has a commendable list of standard features, which explain why it is among one of the most valuable cars for its class and price range. The L rides on 15-inch steel wheels, and it has automatic LED high beam lights for enhanced visibility. It features a tilt steering wheel and an easy-to-read driver information display, which puts all of the car's vitals in plain view. Technology includes a six-inch touchscreen display with audio and entertainment controls. There is a USB port in the cabin and a voice control system for smartphone use. The basic safety package on the L includes pedestrian detection, collision warning, automatic emergency braking, and lane departure warning, which senses when the driver starts to switch lanes without signaling. Starting with the LE, each successive trim level builds on the previous trim's amenities. The LE upgrades to larger 16-inch wheels, more refined upholstery, an armrest for the backseat, and automatic climate control. It also has remote locking capacity and variable intermittent windshield wipers. The next trim is the LE Eco. The Eco adds to the features of both the L and LE with a unique suspension system designed to improve handling and maximize efficiency. This model has 15-inch wheels. It has a more aerodynamic exterior that includes sleek lines and a rear spoiler. Progressing to the XLE, larger 16-inch wheels make a triumphant return. The headlights are brighter and more powerful in the XLE, which enhances nighttime vision. The XLE tail lights are made with long-lasting LED bulbs, and LED daytime running lights add visibility to the front. A sunroof comes with the XLE, which also has a faux-leather upholstery, a leather-encased steering wheel, and heated front seats. The XLE has a sophisticated navigation system and a large touchscreen display. Satellite and HD radio are installed and ready to be activated. The SE is the sports-oriented edition of the Corolla. It is mechanically similar to the previous trims, but it has a sportier package with sport front seats, 17-inch wheels, a black grille, a rear spoiler, paddle shifters, and a snazzy front end styling. The top of the line is the XSE, which adds heated front seats, an eight-way driver's seat, and the option for manual transmission.

Strength in Performance

2018 Toyota Corolla FrontMost trims of the Corolla are powered by the same 1.8L, four-cylinder engine. This engine produces a maximum of 132HP and 128 LB-FT of torque. A separate engine is placed in the Eco model. The Eco is driven by a 140HP engine that creates a maximum of 126 LB-FT of torque. All of the Corolla trims have a continuously variable automatic transmission. They also have front-wheel drive. The SE and XSE can be ordered with either an automatic or manual transmission.

Standard Safety Components

2018 Toyota Corolla RearSafety is certainly not sacrificed in the latest Corolla, which monitors drivers' performance with an array of high-tech features. Pedestrian detection and frontal collision avoidance are standard safety components on all trims from the base up. A rearview backup camera, lane departure warning, automatic high beams, and automatic emergency braking are standard safety features on all trims.
