What's New For the 2019 Toyota Sequoia?

Toyota newest iteration of their long running full-sized SUV, the 2019 Toyota Sequoia, remains largely unchanged from the 2018 model. While not radically different from its predecessor, the new model does sport several refinements, comforts, and a few new safety features. Externally, the 2019 Sequoia boasts a new and improved grille and lamp design, as well as a number of new paint options. Specific models will come standard with Toyota's redesigned fog lamps and daytime running lights.

The interior hasn't changed much, still offering an enormous amount of cargo and passenger room, offering better than 120 cubic feet of cargo space, and able to comfortably seat up to eight people at one time. Under the hood, the Sequoia still has its big, reliable 5.7 liter V8 engine, capable of towing up to 7,400 lbs, and, despite the age of the design, still comes standard with a robust suite of safety and driver assistance systems that other vehicles in its class would have you paying extra for.

2019 Toyota Sequoia Trim Levels & Features

The 2019 Sequoia is available in four different trim levels: the SR5, the TRD Sport, Limited, and Platinum, each available in your choice of 4x4 or 4x2 configuration.

The SR5, while being the basic model, still comes with an impressive number of standard features, including a 3-zone climate control system, Toyota's Entune audio system and 6'1" touchscreen, backup camera, 8-speaker sound system, and multiple driver assistance systems.

The TRD Sport trim trades one passenger seat and a bit of cargo room for a more aggressive, sportier appearance, big 20" wheels, an independent suspension system, and a performance-tuned anti-sway bar.

The Limited level adds a touch of luxury and convenience with chrome accents, leather-trimmed and heated front seats, second and third row retractable sunshades, and an auto-dimming rearview mirror with a compass and HomeLink universal transceiver.

The ultimate in luxury, the Platinum level takes the previous levels' features and runs with them. Featuring two-position power memory seats and mirrors, a rear-seat Blu-ray player with 9" display, an Entune audio and convenience package with built-in navigation, adaptive suspension that actively adapts to driving conditions, and enough ports and sockets for everyone's devices, the Platinum trim level is the last word in convenience and luxury.

2019 Toyota Sequoia Top Notch Engines

2019 Toyota Sequoia Exterior FrontComing standard with Toyota's 5.7-Liter i-FORCE V8 DOHC engine, featuring independent variable valve timing, the Toyota Sequoia's engine is a proven and powerful workhorse. Producing up to 381 horsepower, 401 lb-ft of torque, and coupled to the SUV's 6-speed automatic transmission, the big V8 can hit the 60 miles per hour mark in under 7 seconds and tow up to 7,400 pounds.

Available in rear- and all-wheel drive, the 2019 Sequoia gets 13 city miles per gallon of gasoline, and 17 per gallon on the highway, about standard for an SUV of its size.

Depending on selected trim level, the Sequoia also offers independent and adaptive suspension, resulting in a smooth, comfortable ride.

2019 Toyota Sequoia Safety Equipment

2019 Toyota Sequoia Exterior RearThe 2019 Toyota Sequoia offers as standard a huge suite of driver assistance and safety features, the majority of which cost extra in other SUVs.

Features like adaptive cruise control, vehicle stability and traction control, collision and pedestrian warnings, a lane-departure warning system, parking assist, and trailer sway control come bog-standard in the Sequoia, making the base level trim one of the most safety feature rich full-sized SUVs on the market.

Combined with precision engineered crumple zones, strategically placed and dynamically responsive airbags, and the 2019 Sequoia is easily one of the safest vehicles in its class.
